This article explains how GameRefinery provides Active Users estimates in the Live Event Tracker.

GameRefinery is thrilled to announce the expansion of its analytics capabilities with the addition of a new Active Users metric with data from SimilarWeb (similarweb.com).

As with Download and Revenue Change metrics, Active User estimates are now available in the Live Events Tracker, allowing GameRefinery users to understand the impacts of limited-time events on players' engagement by correlating Active User changes with the LiveOps framework. Additionally, we also introduced multi-metric charts (Show Performance) to facilitate faster analysis.

Where does "active user" in GameRefinery come from?

GameRefinery obtains the data from the intelligence platform SimilarWeb.

How does SimiarWeb define an "active user"?

The average number of active users per month who have used the app in a given period. We define an active user as a device having 1 or more foreground sessions within an app during the selected period.

How is a monthly/daily "active user" (MAU/DAU) calculated? Does downloading the app count, or do they have to open it?

MAU / DAU is counted when an app is connected to a network.

Which platform does the "active user" metric in GameRefinery include?

GameRefinery shows "active user" for iOS only.

What is the delivery schedule for the "monthly active user (MAU)"?

The MAU data is delivered on 10th of each month.
